Tutoring is a service provided to individuals or small groups by a person with content knowledge of the areas being offered. A tutor can supplement the education a child is receiving in school so that they gain the skills they need to be successful independent learners or they can engage with individuals or small groups who would like to challenge themselves and further expand their current knowledge. Tutoring is important because it is extremely beneficial for children. Through tutoring, children receive highly individualized instructions and goals that aren’t always possible in a large group setting. The 1-1 or small group setting of tutoring ensures that children receive the attention they need and deserve whether it be additional learning support or enrichment.
